From Fear to Victory....Right Before My Eyes

What Do You Believe?

What do you believe?  You might think that’s a strange way to start an article, but think about that question and whatever you answer affects every decision of your life.  Your answer affects your perception of right and wrong; it is instrumental in your decision to take the high road that is less traveled or the low road where you’ll have a lot of company;  it’s a huge contributor to your joy or lack thereof and the list goes on…. So, think about it, “What do you believe”?  There is a poster I have in my office, it doesn’t recognize the author, and I don’t take credit other than I believe it is true.  It says, “Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny. What we think, we become.”


Again, I ask, “What do you believe”?  Are you starting to get my point?


I prefaced this article with a question because I wanted to share how the words and actions of three young children portrayed what they truly believe and defined their character and who they and are going to be right before my eyes.  Before I go on, I initially was going to sight Bible verses to give credence to what I witnessed, but as I started writing, I wanted the reader to know, these children didn’t have these verses memorized, but they had unwavering faith in Jesus that made them strong and courageous through Him.  I’m not 100% sure of their exact ages but I’m talking about children ages from age of 6 to 11.  Let me fill in the blanks.


True Character Comes Forth When Put Under Stress


  

Saturday, March 29, 2025, these children witnessed their father suffer from a seizure where he basically fell to the floor and he was for all intense purposes unresponsive.  Shortly thereafter, I received a call from their mom telling me she needed help.  That her husband had just suffered a seizure, an ambulance was on the way, and she needed someone to be with children when accompanied her husband to the hospital.  I arrived a few minutes before the ambulance to a family that was scared, not knowing for sure what was happening or what to really expect.  I noticed the young daughter standing off to the side with alligator tears flowing down here face, I saw the older brother doing his best to be strong and fight back the tears but a couple snuck out and where slowly rolling down his cheeks, the youngest was bewildered and didn’t know what to do.  As the ambulance pulled up next the house, I sent the older boy out to guide the emergency crew into the house and like a trooper he didn’t skip a beat in accomplishing that task.  He did an exceptional job meeting the crew at the ambulance and guiding them to his father and then stepping out of the way as they worked on his father.  At t that point I had sat down across the room from where he stood which was behind the lone living room chair and leaning against the wall with fear in his eyes but still staying strong for his younger siblings.  As the emergency crew worked on their father, I gathered the children to me to comfort them and let them know that they weren’t alone.  


The Making of Warriors! 

It, didn’t take long for the emergency crew to take their father to the ambulance and their mother followed.  That is when when the real, what these children truly believe, shined through their tears and their fear.  What happened next was straight from God because when we gathered in a circle and clasped our hands together to pray for their father I can’t remember a time in my life where I heard more powerful prayers than I heard come these children appealing to God about their Father.  I can’t say I have ever heard more "straight from the heart" appeals to our Heavenly Father as each child made their requests known.  The phrase “Very Powerful” doesn’t do justice to what happened in that prayer circle that day.  When we finished praying, without my direction, each child took hold of their Bible and the oldest started reading verses about reasons not to worry.  Verse after verse he read and Holt Spirit filled the room with His comfort and supernatural power and a transformation took place right before my eyes.  Earlier, when I walked into the room I saw scared children but now I witnessed them turn into warriors.  They each wielded their sword with such confidence, and their fear diminished and what they truly believed was written in every action they took, in every word they spoke and there is absolutely no doubt there was a quaking in Heaven because of what those children believe.  I feel beyond privileged to be able to have witnessed the power of real faith in action and the power of God in these three young and powerful warriors. As I wrap up this section, I would be totally remise to not mention the positive influence of Mom and Dad in teaching, fostering and demonstrating how to be a true Warrior...


May You Always Walk in the TRUTH!


Below, are verses that I originally was going to use in this article.  They are relevant and help justify the actions of these children, but the real justification comes from what each one of them believe in their heart and their relationship with the King of kings and Lord of lords, our creator, our Heavenly Father.  I’ll close with this, “What an inspiring sight to behold”!


God tells in Joshua:


1:5, “…I will not leave you or forsake you”.

1:6, “Be strong and of good courage…”

1:7, “Only be strong and very courageous…”

1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”


God lives in you:


ROMANS 8:11

“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” 


1 CORINTHIANS 3:16

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” 


GALATIANS 2:20

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” 


JOHN 14:17

“He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” 


EPHESIANS 3:16

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.”
