Forgotten Promises Resurrected

Romans 12:2 NKJV

…Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…

I can hear the question now, “What does, be transformed by the renewing of your mind mean”? To be honest, that’s a good and logical question.  I imagine the vast majority of “sane and insane” people would say they are happy with their minds just the way they are and are be wondering how they would be transformed by renewing their mind.  

Let me start with the full verse of Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”.

Clue after Clue after Clue

The first clue is, “Do not be conformed to this world”.  But, again it’s probably like reading a foreign language on what that means. I can hear the grumbling now, why in the world would I listen to this guy?  First he says I need to transform by renewing my mind, and then he says, “Do not be conformed to this world” where

 I was born and live. 

To be truthful, I totally understand why you might think that.  That's a valid response from believers and nonbelievers.

I did it again, many of the believers are going how could you stick us in the same basket as the nonbelievers, we are better than that.  Ouch! My response to that statement, "Are you?"

Please bear with me and I’ll explain and try to close the loop. 

We live in a fallen world. That means Satan is in charge of this world and he does everything in his power to deceive us, trick us, tempt us to destroy or kill us.  By us, I mean all of us, God’s creation, believers and nonbelievers. 

Look at the world we live in today that I’m sure many support and defend because you've been lied to,  because you are empathetic and compassionate and want to understand, accept and nurture all people, all great traits. But the fact remains that a lie is still a lie whether you believe it or not.  Let’s just take the hot topics of today: abortion, pedophilia, transgenderism,  transhumanism, feminism, and demasculinizing men.   Those are all hot topics and they are all of this world because they all fly in the face of what God says is true and right in the Bible.  They are straight from Satan because he hates man (that includes woman) and he hates God so he does his very damndest to destroy what God created in His own image. Lets be honest here, there is enough information on each one of these topics I could write volumes, but I'd go way off the topic in doing so.

Yes, I'm Serious!

I’m sure I’m ruffling a few feathers on both sides of the fence and right now I can hear words and phrases like, “Hate speech, bigot, racist, supremacist, Bible thumper, goody two shoes” and the such going through the minds of many readers now.  Let's be totally transparent, I know God gave each and every one us free will. We all get to choose what we think is best for us. I totally, 100% agree with that.  I’m just to maybe, hopefully open the door to another option that you may or may not of heard about before or didn’t think of it like I’m presenting it to you.  We have heard phrases "I've got to get out of the Rat Race" or "Life use to be so much more simple" or "I'm just so busy" or "Adulting, I hate it". Have you ever wondered why life is so hard? After all the technology shouldn't life be easier? Again, this is a deception that we all are victims of...

We have been Programmed

As a culture we have been programmed to be politically correct and to not say anything that will offend someone.  We’ve been taught to not speak the truth because everyone has their own truth.  All of that has the agenda of conforming us to the world.  Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me”.  That means there is one truth whether you like it or not.  And since you’ve been lied to for your entire life you have been being transformed to this world and haven’t even realized it.  So how do we reprogram ourselves?  The answer is by transforming by renewing our mind.

Close the Door, Slam it Shut!

There is one more thing I purposely left out of the hot topics above because it’s so prevalent and sinister that I know without a doubt many Christians as well as non-Christians are addicted to it.  With that in mind, it probably goes without saying that I’m talking about pornography.  I know the people that have been snared by this have guilt beyond guilt and every time they participate in pornography they secretly promise to themselves it will be the last time.  Not unlike an alcoholic after every drunken stupor episode.  They try to hide from their guilt and don’t let anybody know about their sinful nature as if denying it and going to church somehow makes it alright because nobody knows. Right!?  There are somethings that are so addicting, and so tempting that they will destroy you and your family as you continue to hide and make false promises as your drug deeper an deeper in conforming to the world aka worshipping Satan.  So, how do you stop.  You must renew your mind!  You might ask, how do you renew your mind?  Well, that can be tricky, and it all depends on you, your current life style, the doors of evil that you’ve opened and need to close and the list goes on.  But the short answer is that it’s totally up to you. and if you're willing.

Here’s the answers to how do you renew your mind?

1. If you don’t know Jesus as you personal savior, ask Him into your life and gather His strength. There is power in the name Jesus!

2. If you’re a Christian, it’s time to repent. I mean repent like you mean it.  Much like King David repented in Psalms 51.

3. Ask a spiritually strong believer to be your mentor and help teach you the ways of the Lord.

4. You’ve probably heard the saying, “garbage in, garbage out”.  Start putting in good things.  Read the Bible, turnoff the TV, pray and ask for guidance, listen to worship music, surround yourself with people that love the Lord and

   that do these things. 

   
   

These are just a few examples but as you engulf your life with good, more and more “good” ideas will be presented to you.

watch your words, because they become actions,

watch your actions, for they become habits,

watch your habits, for they become your character,

watch your character, for it becomes your destiny,

what we think, we become.
